Why Join MSHA?

MS Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

Membership in the Mississippi Speech-Language-Hearing Association (MSHA) is an asset to your career as a speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist and enhances services in our state.

MSHA membership is the financial support for a powerful professional voice in MS state government and agencies, as well as ASHA, with cutting edge professional education for students, professionals in healthcare, private practice, school and university settings via its annual member discounted conference; valuable resources including MSHA Message, e-blast archives, and online job site; and necessary informative statewide networking.

MSHA membership is available in several ways to accommodate the varied status and needs of our profession.

FULL - must hold a graduate degree in speech language pathology, audiology, or speech and hearing sciences or a graduate degree and present evidence of active research, interest, and performance in the field of human communication development or disorders. Members have the right to vote and to be an officer.


CFY - must hold a graduate degree in speech language pathology or audiology. They must be in their first full year of employment in their field after graduation. This is a lifetime membership of one year. CFY Members must convert to a Full Member on year two. CFY Members have the right to vote and to be an officer.


ASSOCIATE - must hold a Bachelors degree in the field of human communication development or disorders. They are unable to vote or be an officer.


STUDENT - one who is working on obtaining a degree in the field of human communication development or disorders. They may be a full-time or part-time student. They are unable to vote or be an officer.



LIFETIME - after attainment of age 65 with five consecutive years of membership. No renewals or dues required. Lifetime Members have the right to vote and to be an officer.


The cost of MSHA membership and the discounted conference fee combined is less than the non-member conference rate.

Payment of MSHA dues annually allows you to begin receiving important statewide and national professional information. Membership terms run one year from the date of inception or renewal. Your membership can be set to auto-renew each year so you never lose the benefit of membership.

There is no grace period, therefore if you allow your membership to expire you must re-join. You will get several emails reminding you your membership is about to expire starting the month before expiration.
